PRJ 101: The Basics of Production

Credits 3
This course investigates production pipelines adopted by schools and companies. Topics include career opportunities, best practices and methodologies, efficient workflows, and basic navigation of common industry software. Projects range from small individual assignments to a limited team-based project within a game engine.

PRJ 201: 2D Animation Production

Credits 4
This course is the first semester of a two-semester traditional animation project. Work is completed in small teams with a special emphasis on physicality. Additional topics include research, visual development, and production pipeline management.

PRJ 202: Game Art Project I

Credits 4
This course is the first semester of a two-semester project that focuses on the creation of a simple real-time game or simulation with 2D graphics. Artists work on cross-discipline teams of three or more members. Topics include visual design, game art pipeline, essential development practices, fundamentals of team dynamics, and task prioritization methods.

PRJ 251: 2D Animation Production

Credits 4
This course is the second semester of a two-semester traditional animation project. Work is completed in small teams with a special emphasis on production quality. Topics include cleanup, scanning, coloring, raster and vector-based software, and production pipeline management.

PRJ 252: Game Art Project I

Credits 4
This course is the second semester of a two-semester project and focuses on the creation of a simple real-time game or simulation with 2D graphics. Topics include art polish, visual consistency, formal playtesting, game pacing, and game balance.

PRJ 301: 3D Production Pipeline

This course introduces a limited 3D production pipeline through a one-semester individual project. A range of artistic disciplines will be covered, including modeling, texturing, rendering, rigging, and animation. Storyboards and designs for characters, environments, and assets are provided.

PRJ 303: 3D Production Pipeline I

This course introduces a limited 3D production pipeline through a two-semester individual project. A range of artistic disciplines will be covered, including modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation. This course requires prior knowledge of rigging to create and customize the assets necessary for the project.

PRJ 353: 3D Production Pipeline II

This course is the second part of a two-semester individual project initiated in PRJ 303, introducing a limited 3D production pipeline. It provides students the opportunity to apply and expand on the skills gained in prior courses, including modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation.

PRJ 401: Cinematic Production I

This course is the first semester of a three-semester project which will be continued in PRJ 451 and PRJ 471, focused on the development of the capstone project. Students will work in multidisciplinary teams to create an animated production. Over the three semesters, the course will cover the pre-production, production, and post-production phases of the film. The course emphasizes the application of discipline-based skills, with a strong focus on project management techniques and production pipelines. Students will apply team dynamics, cross-discipline integration, and best practices for productivity in the development of animated productions.

PRJ 451: Cinematic Production II

This course is the second semester of a three-semester project which began at PRJ 401 and is to be continued in PRJ 471, focused on the development of the capstone project. Students will work in multidisciplinary teams to create an animated production. Over the three semesters, the course will cover the pre-production, production, and post-production phases of the film. The course emphasizes the application of discipline-based skills, with a strong focus on project management techniques and production pipelines. Students will apply team dynamics, cross-discipline integration, and best practices for productivity the development of animated productions.

PRJ 452: Game Art Project II

This course is the second semester of a three-semester project sequence that began with PRJ 402 and will conclude with PRJ 472. Focused on the development of a graduation video game project, students will work in multidisciplinary teams to cover all stages of game development, including pre-production, production, and final release. The course emphasizes practical application of discipline-specific skills within project management and production pipelines, fostering effective team dynamics, cross-discipline collaboration, and productivity best practices essential for game development.

PRJ 471: Cinematic Production III

This course is the final semester of a three-semester project which began in PRJ 401 and continued through PRJ 451. It focuses on the development of the capstone project. Students will work in multidisciplinary teams to create an animated production. Over the three semesters, the course will cover the pre-production, production, and post-production phases of the film. The course emphasizes the application of discipline-based skills, with a strong focus on project management techniques and production pipelines. Students will apply team dynamics, cross-discipline integration, and best practices for productivity the development of animated productions.

PRJ 472: Game Art Project II

This course is the third semester of a three-semester project sequence that began with PRJ 402 and PRJ 452.
